Time to move the chicken coop for the season. Sparky is always a good supervisor.





The coop now lives in a gated community: our fenced in vegetable garden patch. A work in progress, more to come...

First kayak paddle of the season (in the West River), and of all things we saw a swan!
We carefully approached, but just as I raised my camera the swan took flight. I've never seen a swan fly and it's flapping wings made an incredible sound as it flew away that we heard from quite a distance - smooth and even but strong and forceful.

Like I was saying, I'm spoiled... My quick snapshot does not do this cake justice. Made by Tim's mom, and she has perfected her recipe: 3 layers of carrot cake with walnuts, sultanas and pineapple, and lemon-infused cream cheese frosting!
