While Tim was bush-hogging behind the marsh pond, one baby red-winged blackbird kept flittering right into his path no matter where he turned (a persistent defender of the grasses!) - so Tim asked me to hold onto the little bird to keep it from getting mowed over while he continued. When I let the bird go a few moments later the parents immediately joined him (her?) - phew, I felt relieved that he wasn't shunned. (I have to admit it was a treat to feel his soft feathers and tiny movements, though I imagine he was terrified)

the Friday night show
Once again my photos fail to capture the magic of this - while we were sitting out back, 2 young fawns emerged from the woods without any mama.. They kept aware of us, but didn't seem to know to fear us and wandered around the back yard, nibbling amid the clover for a good 15+ minutes before meandering back behind trees.

a date to remember
Kim went through this day's entire 24 hours (and then some!) without drinking one drop of coffee.
This has not happened in hmmm... over 2 1/2 decades...?
