Taking close-ups of flora around the yard lately, one of the fun surprises has been when I later zoom in on each photo I frequently discover little bugs in the picture - I think I need to go out specifically looking for bugs to snap photos of!
the film "ReGeneration" looks like it will be a must-see...
A few clips:
description from the film's website: "Beyond the labels of “Generation X” and “Generation Y,” the feature documentary film ReGeneration takes an uncompromising look at the issues facing today’s youth and young adults, and the influences that perpetuate our culture’s apathetic approach to social and political causes. Within the film, the discussion of apathy found in today’s generation leads to exploration of technology, our disconnection with nature, how much we consume, our loss of history, and the economic factors holding many of us back from becoming more active participants in our communities. With such a varied and intelligent group of interviews, we come to a deeper understanding of the numerous influences shaping today’s culture where one universal feeling is shared – our society is at a crossroads, economically, environmentally, and intellectually – and we must change ourselves and the world for the better."

“There’s something sacred about reading a blog post on someone else’s site. It’s like visiting a friend’s house for a quick meal ’round the breakfast table. It’s personal — you’re in their space, and the environment is uniquely suited for idea exchange and uninterrupted conversation. In many ways, we should be treating our blogs like our breakfast tables. Be welcoming & gracious when you host, and kind & respectful when visiting.”
craving chocolate SO MUCH. This is someone else's random photo (top of a cake they made!) that I found on the internet (don't remember where, oops sorry) - it's all I can dream about
“Do stuff. Be clenched, curious. Not waiting for inspiration’s shove or society’s kiss on your forehead. Pay attention. It’s all about paying attention. Attention is vitality. It connects you with others. It makes you eager. Stay eager.”
Everyone around me is talking about food & diet lately - Garance Dore (my favorite fashion blogger) is right: we Americans are neurotic about food!!!
Something today reminded me of the summer of 1990, when my sister & I toured through Europe with Eurail passes, one of the best things I've ever done. Most of the time we slept in youth hostels, but this one night we had the crazy idea to sleep on a beach along the south of France. As the sun set it got colder & colder - we ended up putting on every piece of clothing we had packed, and then garbage bags on top of the clothes in an attempt to stay dry - I can't even remember what it felt like in the morning! Here we are looking like dorks and having the time of our life: This song was everywhere that summer:
glorious green has appeared overnight, yet remnants of last fall still hold their own in early morning light: these things are such a nuisance, but you can't deny how cute they are^^^
Watched Melancholia last night, about the end of the world when a rogue planet collides with Earth -- powerful film-making! This is the intense final scene (so um, warning: spoiler alert) - gets me in the chest every time I watch it:
We were talking about the space between us all and people who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion never glimpse the truth then it's far too late when they pass away.
We were talking about the love we all could share. When we find it to try our best to hold it there. With our love, with our love we could save the world if they only knew.
Try to realize it's all within yourself no one else can make you change. And to see you're really only very small and life flows on within you and without you.
We were talking about the love that's gone so cold and the people who gain the world and lose their soul. They don't know, they can't see Are you one of them?
When you've seen beyond yourself then you may find peace of mind is waiting there. And the time will come when you see we're all one and life flows on within you and without you.

my favorite vintage dress ever!!! - found on eBay 10+ years ago - every year I try it on and take it for a little spin on St. Pat's Day, but unfortunately never have occasion to wear it all day (except for this one year I did :)
