back road in the Middlesex Valley - taken from a moving car, through dirty windows - I like the dreamy quality that created:

kayaking into the West River (going south/west from Sunnyside) with my mom & Tim
The weather turned to heavy raindrops just after this, so we reversed direction and scooted back to Sunnyside as quickly as possible, motivated by the rumble of oncoming thunder and lightning. Not quite the idyllic outing I'd hoped to share with my mom, but still a good adventure!

How you like me now?
(song featured in "The Fighter", which has an awesome soundtrack -- it's a good movie if you like the boxing genre, plus Christian Bale is one of my favorites)

mama ducks
Saturday morning, at south end of Canandaigua Lake (view from Woodville boat launch) -
hard to see here, but this was a mama duck with 2 little ones following close behind:
Later in the day - while sitting on our back porch during the early evening, look who we discovered making use of the muskrat lodge in the marsh pond out back!
again it's hard to see here, but through binoculars we could see a mama duck with a bunch of fuzzy ducklings squirming under her - so cute! They stayed there all evening - (we think they're mallards)
(closeup detail - sorry that this is the best my camera could do, bummer)
