only to be watched from afar

We've spotted these guys more than once in recent days, but whenever I try to get closer with my camera the wood ducks (mama + 8 ducklings) quickly swim away to hide and the unfortunate-looking snapping turtle shrinks into his shell (I don't dare get too close to him anyhow)
