Fishing at the DEC boat launch leading into the West River. Uncle Tim & G caught one bullhead, but decided it wasn't enough to warrant the prep work, so they gave it to another family to add to their more successful haul further down the river. These photos highly manipulated to show details in dim, after dusk lighting...

sunset in Vine Valley

Tim & his mom (after a belated celebration of her birthday)

Tim has childhood memories of coming here with his family; then later on during our early dating years he & I took picnics here.

First kayak paddle of the season (in the West River), and of all things we saw a swan!
We carefully approached, but just as I raised my camera the swan took flight. I've never seen a swan fly and it's flapping wings made an incredible sound as it flew away that we heard from quite a distance - smooth and even but strong and forceful.

boat launch at Woodville, post heavy rains - where those docks and trees are is the area where we usually put in our kayaks

First kayak outing of the season, putting in at Sunnyside and paddling towards Middlesex... We like this direction because often we'll see beaver activity.

(the light looks different because in some photos we're going east; some are facing west)

kayak paddle down the West River, towards Naples Creek - oops, got muddy splashes on my camera lens but I kind of like the mood they impart
