Just as I got myself all nestled down in the frosty grass to get some glittery pictures, my battery died. :(
And I might wish for a better camera, but this is what I got, okay? Don't be such a snob.
I still think it's purrty.

dug up fresh wild ramps tomake green goddess soup for Mother's Day!
(Asparagus + Spinach + Ramps = yum!)
Since we were doing yard work, we let the chickens free range...They were so happy in the sunshine! I had just started the lawnmower when I decided I must take some pictures of them looking so pastoral in the tall grasses — But Archer didn't like the mower at all and immediately started corralling them all over to get under their favorite large pine tree.
It was a perfect day to either mow the lawn or run around taking photos - I compromised and snapped quick photos from the lawnmower as I went.
I mowed over too many bees. I couldn't stand it anymore. Eventually I stopped, to leave large swaths of dandelions standing - in a few weeks, their starring acts will be over and I'll do a more thorough lawn mowing job.
After I finished, the chickens all headed back to dig around the compost pile.

I followed the directions to scatter “wildflower bombs” (the bright colored smashed seed stuff) over Cookie & Fred — will be an experiment to see if they sprout…
